When is Hypnosis Therapy an Effective Tool?
Hypnosis therapy is not the same as hypnosis for entertainment, wherein people embarrass themselves engaging in odd behaviors.
In my work with therapeutic hypnosis, as in all of my work, you are in control of what occurs and may stop or slow the process at any time. You are in dual awareness – of your present surroundings while in a light trance state.
There is a significant overlap in my work between hypnosis and guided imagery in mindfulness.
Like all therapeutic modalities, hypnosis is used by mutual agreement. The goal is to build internal resources which both enhance well-being and address specific issues, such as insomnia, anxiety, smoking cessation, food and other addictions.
While hypnosis therapy has its place in my comprehensive “tool kit”, I prefer therapies that connect mind, heart and body over those that are more “dissociative” in nature. If you refer to my CREDENTIALS page, you will see that I offer a broad range of treatment methods in addition to hypnosis therapy.
